Matrix Reader Certification · Determining Castes

The Four Castes

Caste as the level of a soul's development — the four varnas, the 'measure' each reads the world by, and what each is here to do.

What a caste is

A soul incarnates many times; the body changes, but the level of consciousness it has developed carries forward. A caste is that level — how far along the road of development a soul has travelled. It shows up most clearly not in a person's job or birth family, but in their way of thinking and perceiving the world. Each caste is a whole world, with its own laws, aims, and sense of what's true.

There are four, and it helps to number them. Picture four gates connecting a person to the world, with wires running out: one wire from the first, two from the second, three from the third, four from the fourth. Each wire is a “measure” — a way of measuring reality. More wires, more ways to engage, more possibilities. That's all a higher caste is: more measures, not more worth.

This is Vedic in origin — the varnas — and, importantly, it was never meant to be inherited from parents (that later distortion is the Indian jāti system). A soul earns its caste through the work of its past lives. You can rise a caste in a lifetime, and you can fall.
